The washing machine
Before using these tips, please check that your curtains can withstand machine washing and are resistant to high temperatures.
Baking powder
Yes, you read that right, the baking powder used to make cupcakes is also an excellent ally for whitening yellowed curtains.
First, fill your tub with hot water. In a glass, dilute a sachet of yeast then pour it into the hot water. Immerse your curtains in the bathtub and leave on for an hour.
Finally, put your curtains in the washing machine and run a regular machine on a 30° delicate program.
Lemon and baking soda
Wash your curtains in the washing machine according to your habits and add lemon juice to the detergent and a little baking soda to the fabric softener. Leave to run in the 40° program.
- Azaé Tip: To avoid damaging your curtains while ironing them, remember to hang them directly when you take them out of the machine. Indeed, the curtains being still wet, the weight will make that the folds will disappear without problem.
Blanch by hand
Hand washing your curtains is recommended if they are fragile and delicate.
Lemon juice
In a mixture of boiling water and lemon juice (1 per litre), immerse your yellowed curtains and leave for an hour. Finally let it dry.
Milk
To make your curtains whiter, soak them in milk for at least an hour and then put them in the washing machine to avoid any smell.
